Kim Hee Sun is ready to surprise viewers with her most relatable role yet. The actress sheds her glamorous image to portray a down-to-earth mother in TV Chosun’s new drama, Because There Is No Next Life TV CHOSUN

A Drastic Image Shift

On October 22, the production team released the first stills of Kim as Jo Na-jung, a once-successful TV home shopping host who left her career behind to raise her children. Now, she faces the harsh reality of trying to return to work after years away from the spotlight.

The stills capture two contrasting sides of her character — the confident, stylish professional of her past and the exhausted, unfiltered woman she has become. Kim’s transformation is striking: she appears with naturally curled, frizzy hair and casual oversized clothing, embodying the look of an ordinary mother rather than a polished celebrity.

A Role That Mirrors Her Life

Kim Hee-sun confessed that this role felt deeply personal. “After I got married, I took a six-year break from acting. During that time, I felt many of the same emotions Na-jung experiences,” she shared. “This story didn’t feel like someone else’s — it felt like mine.”

She added, “Through Na-jung’s journey to rediscover herself, I hope viewers will also find courage to start again.”

The Message Behind the Makeover

Kim intentionally embraced the “ajumma” look to connect with viewers. “I wanted to show a mom you could easily meet in real life — someone sincere and relatable,” she explained.

The production team praised Kim’s dedication, noting, “She captures the emotions of modern mothers with remarkable authenticity. Her performance will deeply resonate with viewers.”
