Actress Lee Min-jung opened up about her early married life with husband Lee Byung-hun, sharing a surprisingly relatable reason behind her post-wedding weight loss.
On November 4, a new episode was uploaded to her YouTube channel “Lee Min-jung MJ” titled “What’s for Dinner at the Min-jung Household? A Table Full of Korean Comfort Food.” In the video, Lee prepared a hearty homemade dinner for her husband, who had just returned from an overseas schedule. The menu included spicy braised chicken (dakbokkeumtang) and clam-spinach soybean paste soup, both cooked with her signature care.

As she plated the meal, Lee laughed and confessed:
“Anyone who cooks a lot will understand — after smelling the food for so long, you kind of lose your appetite. During my newlywed days, I actually lost a lot of weight because after finishing all the cooking, I just didn’t feel like eating anymore.”

She then took a few bites and joked, “Still, it’s delicious — especially the clams. I didn’t even need soup stock; the flavor’s perfect.”
Lee continued to entertain viewers with her warm humor and honesty, adding:
“My husband missed Korean food while in Venice, so I wanted to cook something comforting. Honestly, where can you find a wife like me?” she laughed.
In the same video, the actress also addressed her husband’s previous playful comment about her temper which had gone viral among fans. Lee Byung-hun had earlier joked on the show “It Can’t Be Helped” that when his wife gets angry, “everyone ends up completely defeated — even our son!”
Clarifying the story, Lee Min-jung laughed and said,
“That’s such an exaggeration! I only get really angry maybe once or twice a year. When I do, I stay calm and logical. If I were really that scary, how could he live with me?”
She even picked up a kitchen knife mid-conversation to playfully prove her point, making viewers burst into laughter.
Lee Min-jung’s candid personality and sense of humor have made her one of Korea’s most beloved celebrity moms. Meanwhile, both she and Lee Byung-hun are busy with new projects: Lee Byung-hun recently starred in the critically acclaimed film Harbin, while Lee Min-jung returned to the big screen in It Can’t Be Helped, marking her first movie in seven years.
Editor’s Insight
What makes this story stand out is its simplicity.
In an industry where celebrity content is often polished and curated, small moments like this feel more genuine.
Lee Min-jung’s story works not because it is dramatic, but because it reflects everyday experiences that many people rarely hear from public figures.
That sense of familiarity is likely why the clip resonated so quickly with viewers.
