BTS is already setting new benchmarks ahead of its long-awaited return. The group’s upcoming fifth full length album ‘ARIRANG’ has surpassed 4 million pre-orders, underscoring explosive global demand even before release.

According to album distributor YG PLUS, ARIRANG recorded 4.06 million pre-orders as of January 22, just one week after reservations opened. BigHit Music began domestic and international pre-orders on January 16, and the numbers have continued to climb at an unprecedented pace.

Faster Than BTS’ Own Records

The momentum is particularly notable when compared to BTS’ previous best-selling album. Their fourth studio album, ‘MAP OF THE SOUL : 7’, which remains the group’s top selling record to date, logged 3.42 million pre-orders over the same period. ARIRANG has already exceeded that figure, signaling the potential for a new career-defining milestone. With nearly two months remaining until release, industry observers are closely watching how high the final pre-order tally will rise by the time sales officially close.

First Full-Group Album in Four Years

ARIRANG marks BTS’ first full-group studio album in nearly four years, following the 2022 anthology ‘Proof’. The album’s release is scheduled for March 20, officially launching the group’s long-anticipated reunion era after an extended hiatus.

The excitement surrounding the comeback has been reflected across multiple platforms. Since BigHit Music announced both the new album and an accompanying world tour, official fan club membership reportedly tripled, highlighting renewed engagement from longtime ARMYs as well as new fans.

Streaming Platforms Reflect Global Anticipation

BTS’ digital indicators have been equally striking. On Spotify, the album’s pre-save count surpassed 1 million within two days, then doubled to 2 million by day four, demonstrating rare early traction for a yet-to-be-released K-pop album. Such figures suggest that ARIRANG is not only benefiting from pent-up demand, but also capturing attention beyond the group’s core fanbase.

An Album Rooted in Identity and Emotion

BigHit Music has described ARIRANG as an album that explores BTS’ identity, as well as universal themes of longing, connection, and deep love. The album will feature 14 tracks, offering a comprehensive narrative shaped by the group’s collective journey and the years spent apart.
