BTS leader RM (Kim Namjoon) is once again gaining attention for his passion for art and cultural heritage.
A new publication documenting Korean paintings scattered across museums around the world has been released and it was made possible through a donation RM made several years ago.
RM’s Donation Helped Bring Korean Art Together
According to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, a catalog titled “ITS ____ HERE: Shining Korean Old Paintings Abroad” has been published and distributed to public libraries and research institutions both in Korea and internationally.
The book collects and organizes Korean paintings from the 16th to the 20th centuries that are currently housed in museums and galleries outside Korea.
Many of these artworks are rarely seen together, making the catalog an important reference for researchers and art enthusiasts.

Rare Korean Masterpieces Included
The publication features high-resolution images and detailed explanations of major Korean paintings preserved overseas.
Among the works included are:
- “Pyeongang Governor Welcoming Successful Exam Candidates” from the Peabody Essex Museum in the United States
- “Snow Clearing Over a Cold Forest (Hanlim Jesuldo)” from the Cleveland Museum of Art
By compiling these pieces into a single volume, the project highlights the global presence of traditional Korean art and helps scholars better study these historical works.

RM’s Longstanding Interest in Art and Culture
The catalog was produced using funds RM donated in 2022 to support the preservation and restoration of Korean cultural heritage located abroad.
His contribution followed an earlier donation in 2021, when he also provided 100 million won to support similar cultural preservation efforts.
Officials from the foundation said RM’s deep appreciation for traditional Korean culture played a major role in making the project possible.
More Than a Music Star
RM has long been known as one of the most art-enthusiastic figures in K-pop. The BTS leader frequently visits museums, collects artworks, and supports cultural initiatives.
Through projects like this publication, his influence is extending beyond music helping promote Korean history, art, and heritage to a global audience.
