Actors Kang Tae-oh and Kim Se-jeong are returning to the small screen — this time in an enchanting historical fantasy where a crown prince and a merchant find their fates intertwined.
A New Kind of Royal Romance
MBC’s new Friday–Saturday drama Moon River premieres November 7 at 9:50 p.m. KST, promising a mix of comedy, destiny, and heartfelt emotion.

The story follows Crown Prince Lee Gang (played by Kang Tae-oh), who has lost his smile, and Park Dal-i (played by Kim Se-jeong), a spirited traveling merchant who has lost her memory.
A mysterious twist of fate causes the two to swap bodies overnight, setting off a series of hilarious, chaotic, and ultimately touching events as they struggle to survive each other’s lives — and slowly fall in love.
A World Full of Whimsy
The drama’s unique fantasy world introduces several fun new terms that are already catching fans’ attention.
- “Gon-kkku” (Gonryongpo styling): Refers to Prince Lee Gang’s obsession with fashion — he personally tailors royal robes to match his “personal color,” earning the title of “the royal trendsetter.”
- “Hong-yeon” (Red Thread): A mystical cord symbolizing a destined bond between two souls, said to bring them together no matter the obstacles.
- “Maessenger”: A secret communication network used by traveling merchants across the kingdom to share information — and sometimes, secrets.
These playful elements add color to Moon River’s imaginative Joseon-era setting, blending humor, fantasy, and romance into a fresh take on the body-swap genre.
Chemistry Fans Can’t Wait For
This marks Kang Tae-oh’s first historical drama in six years and Kim Se-jeong’s first ever, making their pairing one of the most anticipated of the year. Their mix of regal charisma and witty charm is expected to create a dynamic on-screen chemistry that fans of both actors — and K-drama romance lovers — won’t want to miss.
MBC’s Moon River premieres November 7 at 9:50 p.m., inviting viewers into a world where fate, fantasy, and love collide under the moonlight.
Editor’s Insight
There was a lot of pressure on Kang Tae-oh to find a character that could live up to his legendary role in Extraordinary Attorney Woo. With Lee Gang, he didn’t just find a successor; he found a soul. Watching him navigate the “clumsy undercover” life of a merchant while maintaining his “personal color” royal dignity was the highlight of the 2025 season. Pairing him with Kim Se-jeong who is essentially a human vitamin of acting energy was a masterstroke.
