Actress Jeon Jong Seo is heading to Hollywood. She has been officially cast in the upcoming blockbuster remake of Highlander, joining an all-star international cast.

Jeon Jong Seo’s Next Leap

Jeon’s agency Andmark announced on November 6, “Jeon Jong Seo will appear in the Hollywood remake of ‘Highlander,’ one of the most anticipated global action projects. The original fanbase’s interest is already immense.”

The new Highlander will reboot the legendary 1986 film series. The original followed an immortal warrior resurrected from death, destined to face other immortals in epic battles that span centuries. The remake will reportedly be produced on a budget exceeding 100 billion KRW (approx. 75 million USD).

A Star-Studded Cast

The ensemble cast includes Henry Cavill, Mark Ruffalo, Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Jeremy Irons. Directing is Chad Stahelski, best known for the John Wick series, acclaimed for its stylized action choreography and visual storytelling.

Jeon Jong Seo will portray a member of The Watchers, a secret organization tasked with monitoring immortals and ensuring that their existence remains hidden from humans. Her role is said to be crucial in connecting the mortal and immortal worlds within the story.

Production will be handled by United Label, a studio under Amazon MGM Studios, with filming scheduled to begin in early 2026. The project is expected to set a new benchmark for fantasy-action storytelling.

Global Reach

Jeon Jong Seo continues to expand her footprint beyond Korean cinema. She first gained international recognition with her debut film Burning (2018), directed by Lee Chang-dong, which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival.

Her Hollywood debut came with Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon (2021), directed by Ana Lily Amirpour, where she showcased her range in an English-speaking role. More recently, she appeared in the noir action film Project Y, which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.

With Highlander, Jeon takes another bold step toward becoming a truly global actress blending her distinctive intensity with a character shrouded in mystery and power.
