BLACKPINK’s Lisa may soon trade the stage for a castle tower — as reports surface that the global K-pop star is being considered for the role of Rapunzel in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Tangled.

A New Disney Princess on the Horizon?

According to a report from U.S. outlet AllKpop (Nov. 4, local time), industry insiders revealed that Lisa is “under consideration” for the lead role in Disney’s next princess adaptation.

Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson is reportedly being eyed for the role of Mother Gothel, Rapunzel’s captor in the story.

The report also noted that following the mixed performance of Snow White starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, Disney is exploring ways to reignite global interest in its live-action fairy tales — with Lisa viewed as a “fresh, internationally recognizable face” who could draw massive audiences across Asia and beyond.

Disney’s Rapunzel Remake: What We Know So Far

The live-action Rapunzel project is currently in development under Disney Studios, though no official casting announcements have been made.

Production was temporarily halted in April but recently resumed, with Michael Gracey, the director behind The Greatest Showman, attached to direct.

Other actresses reportedly being discussed for the title role include Florence Pugh and Sydney Sweeney, sparking heated debates across fan communities and K-pop forums about who best embodies the spirited princess.

Lisa’s Growing Hollywood Presence

Lisa made her official acting debut earlier this year in HBO’s award-winning series The White Lotus Season 3, where she played Mook — earning praise for her natural screen presence and acting instincts.

Following her Hollywood debut, the BLACKPINK member signed with powerhouse talent agency WME (William Morris Endeavor) and is reportedly reviewing offers for upcoming Netflix film projects, signaling a significant expansion of her career beyond music.

If confirmed, Lisa would make history as the first K-pop idol to lead a Disney live-action princess film, marking a major milestone in both Asian representation and global pop culture crossover.
