The global phenomenon K-Pop Demon Hunters (often abbreviated as KDH) is officially getting a sequel.
According to reports from Bloomberg and Variety on November 5 (local time), Netflix and Sony Pictures have signed an agreement to co-produce the sequel to the animated hit, with a tentative release planned for 2029. The companies noted that the release date may shift depending on the production timeline.
A Record-Breaking Global Hit
Originally produced by Sony Pictures and released worldwide via Netflix on June 20, 2025, K-Pop Demon Hunters follows the story of Rumi, Mira, and Joey — three K-pop superstars who secretly protect the world as demon hunters by night.

Featuring English voice performances by Ahn Hyo-seop, the action-fantasy film captivated audiences with its vibrant animation, humor, and heart.
The film became a historic success for Netflix, surpassing 300 million total views and becoming the most-watched title in the platform’s history, overtaking Squid Game Season 1’s previous record.
K-Pop Meets Hollywood: A New Era of Fusion
The film’s fictional girl group HUNTRIX also made real-world waves. Their single “GOLDEN” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks — marking the first-ever No.1 song by a K-pop girl group and the first K-pop track to reach the top in two years.
The song’s success and the film’s cultural impact sparked a massive wave of fan art, cosplay, and fan events worldwide, solidifying K-Pop Demon Hunters as a major milestone in both K-pop and animation.

Hints About the Sequel
Director Maggie Kang, who visited Korea in August, had teased the possibility of continuing the story:
“Nothing was official at the time, but there’s still so much of the backstory we haven’t shown fans yet. There are many ideas we’d love to explore.”
Now that the sequel is confirmed, fans are eager to see how the world of K-Pop Demon Hunters expands — and whether the HUNTRIX members will return for another mission to save humanity in style.
