Pop star Troye Sivan has once again captured the hearts of Korean fans — this time, not with his music, but with his love for kimchi.
On November 10 (KST), the Australian singer shared a short but heartfelt Instagram Story that read, “I love kimchi so much,” accompanied by a crying emoji. Though simple, the post immediately went viral in Korea — especially since it coincided with kimjang season, the traditional time when Koreans prepare large batches of kimchi for winter.

Fans flooded social media with amused reactions:
“How did he know it’s kimjang season?”
“We have our new Kimchi Ambassador!”
“Please come to Korea again!”
“Next time, try kimchi stew!”
Born in South Africa and raised in Australia, Troye Sivan has long shown affection for Korean culture. During his previous concerts in Seoul, he greeted fans in Korean and expressed heartfelt thanks. He has also collaborated with major K-pop figures, including members of BTS and Stray Kids’ Hyunjin, strengthening his ties with Korean audiences.
In addition to his music career, Sivan is also an accomplished actor, having appeared as young Wolverine in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. With hit songs like “Youth” and “Angel Baby”, he continues to enjoy immense popularity worldwide and now, even more so among Korean fans who are charmed by his unexpected kimchi confession.
