The legend is back!
K-pop icon G-Dragon is officially set to take the stage at the upcoming 2025 Melon Music Awards (MMA 2025), to be held on December 20 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
Melon, the music platform under Kakao Entertainment, announced G-Dragon as part of its third artist lineup — a move that instantly sent fans into a frenzy online.

The Return of a Living Legend
After receiving the Ok-gwan Order of Cultural Merit, one of Korea’s highest cultural honors, and performing at the APEC Summit welcome banquet in Gyeongju, G-Dragon has proven his unmatched influence both in and beyond the music scene.
Earlier this year, he made a historic comeback with his third full album Übermensch, released in February — his first in 11 years and 5 months. Within just four hours, the album surpassed one million streams on Melon, breaking multiple solo artist records.
The title track “TOO BAD (feat. Anderson .Paak)” debuted at #1 on Melon’s Top 100 just an hour after release, while eight songs from the album entered the Top 15 simultaneously — a first in Melon’s chart history since its reform.
Dominating the Charts All Year
Throughout 2025, G-Dragon maintained the top spot as the most-streamed artist on Melon. His follow-up single “HOME SWEET HOME” also achieved record-breaking listener numbers, ranking #1 in both weekday commute charts and most-played artist categories.
With his continued dominance in streaming data and his signature artistic innovation, fans and critics alike are calling him “the King of K-pop” once again — and anticipation for his MMA 2025 performance is sky-high.
What to Expect at MMA 2025
This year’s Melon Music Awards, sponsored by Kakao Bank, will run under the main theme “Play the Moment,” celebrating the stories and connections made through music. With G-Dragon now confirmed, audiences can expect a career-defining stage that blends art, message, and pure star power.
The 17th annual Melon Music Awards 2025 will stream live worldwide on December 20 — and fans are already calling it “the night G-Dragon reclaims the throne.”
