Disney+ has officially confirmed that its new Korean original series “Made in Korea” will premiere on December 24, delivering a powerful year-end blockbuster led by Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung.

A Gritty 1970s Power Struggle Brought to Life

Set in 1970s South Korea, Made in Korea follows the ruthless rise of Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin), a man who views the entire nation as his business model and pursues wealth and political influence at any cost. Opposing him is prosecutor Jang Gun-young (Jung Woo-sung), who devotes everything to tracking Baek’s corruption.

The drama marks the first-ever OTT series by director Woo Min-ho, known for acclaimed political thrillers like Inside Men, The Man Standing Next, and Harbin. Disney+ describes the series as having “tight storytelling and overwhelming visual style,” promising a cinematic experience where each episode feels like a standalone film.

  • Jung Sung-il, Kang Gil-woo, Noh Jae-won

Their performances are expected to bring intensity and emotional depth to the show’s intricate power dynamics.

A Cinematic OTT Series + Confirmed Season 2

Disney+ is betting big on the franchise. Even before Season 1 airs, Season 2 has already been confirmed and is currently in production, targeting a release in the second half of next year.
