  • The Manipulated
  • Made in Korea
  • 49 Days of Fate War

  • Gold Land
  • A Shop for Killers 2

Each time a Korean actor appeared in the preview reels, the room reportedly erupted in applause — a clear sign of the growing global demand for K-content.

The Loudest Reaction: IU × Byeon Woo-seok

The loudest moment came when a short teaser for “The 21st Century Crown Princess” played, featuring Korea’s top stars IU and Byeon Woo-seok in their first on-screen partnership.

Although the actors could not attend due to filming schedules, their brief appearance was enough to electrify the venue.

The drama is set in a modern-day constitutional monarchy Korea, following:

  • a wealthy but frustrated woman who holds everything except noble status
  • a royal prince who bears the status but lacks the freedom to claim anything for himself

Their romance explores class, ambition, and personal identity — making the pairing one of the most anticipated of 2025.

Disney+ Confirms Rising Global Demand for Korean Stories

Luke Kang, President of The Walt Disney Company APAC, highlighted K-content’s expanding global footprint:

“Korean originals are not only loved across APAC and the United States they are now seeing strong engagement in Latin America, including Brazil and Mexico.”

He emphasized Disney’s long-term strategy of scaling APAC originals into global franchises, noting that Asia remains one of Disney’s strongest creative regions with rapidly growing fandoms.

Editor’s Insight

The explosive reaction to IU and Byeon Woo-seok’s teaser reveals more than star power it highlights how casting itself has become a global event in K-content. In today’s streaming landscape, platforms like Disney+ are no longer just selling stories, but pre-built anticipation driven by high-impact pairings. What’s equally significant is the international context: cheers from journalists across 14 countries indicate that K-dramas are no longer regionally consumed but globally synchronized in hype cycles. In that sense, this moment wasn’t just about one teaser it demonstrated how Korean casting, storytelling, and platform strategy are aligning to create instant worldwide demand at the announcement stage.
