At the press conference for Netflix’s new variety show Three Idiots in Kenya, Eun Ji-won surprised everyone with a hilarious confession about his longtime friend and castmate, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun.

On November 25, Netflix held the production presentation for Three Idiots in Kenya at CGV Yongsan. Producing directors Na Young-seok and Kim Ye-seul attended the event along with cast members Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, and Kyuhyun. The show marks Na PD’s first official Netflix variety series and follows the trio’s chaotic, comedic journey through Kenya’s vast landscapes.

“Kyuhyun has changed… he’s no longer the gentle ballad prince”

During the event, Eun Ji-won joked that Kyuhyun has become a completely different person since their earlier variety days.

“He’s not the innocent ballad prince anymore,” Eun Ji-won teased. “His personality changed — he became dirty, violent, and super irritable. He plays with us now. He doesn’t hold back at all.”

He continued, laughing, “In Kenya, I had to watch the hippos, watch the cheetahs… and watch Kyuhyun. He was letting out every bit of stress he had. I was shocked.”

Kyuhyun laughed off the comments, saying, “I must have been going through something at that time.” He added that the chemistry between him and his hyungs, Lee Soo-geun and Eun Ji-won, is part of the show’s biggest charm. “When these two are together, the energy is totally different. You’ll see us running wild all over Kenya.”

A long-awaited trip born from a legendary moment

The idea for the show dates back to 2019, when Kyuhyun won a “Kenya giraffe hotel stay” as a prize on New Journey to the West 7. Six years later, that one joke gift has turned into a full Netflix travel-variety series.
