Actress Son Na-eun has officially confirmed her appearance in SBS’s upcoming Friday–Saturday drama Chief Kim, where she will star opposite So Ji-sub.
On December 16, Son Na-eun’s agency J,Wide-Company announced that she had finalized her casting in the series, taking on the role of Sang-ah, a mysterious office worker who shares a workplace with the drama’s central character.

Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, Chief Kim tells the story of an ordinary man living a quiet life as a devoted father. When his daughter goes missing, he is forced to reveal a secret past that was never meant to surface, embarking on a dangerous mission to save her. So Ji-sub has been cast as the lead, portraying the seemingly average office worker whose hidden identity drives the story forward.
Son Na-eun’s character, Sang-ah, is introduced as a colleague of Chief Kim who carries secrets of her own, adding tension and intrigue to the unfolding narrative. Details about her background have been kept under wraps, fueling curiosity about how her story will intersect with the lead character.

Son Na-eun has steadily expanded her acting portfolio through projects such as Cinderella and the Four Knights, Dinner Mate, Lost, Ghost Doctor, Agency, Family X Melo, and The Story of Lady Ok. Expectations are high for the new dimension she will bring to this latest role.
Chief Kim is scheduled to air on SBS in 2026, marking another high-profile addition to the network’s drama lineup.
Son Na-eun’s casting in Chief Kim is more than just another role it reflects a deliberate shift in her acting trajectory toward more layered and suspense-driven narratives. While she has built her portfolio through a mix of romance and character-driven dramas, this project places her within a high-stakes thriller framework, where ambiguity and tension carry the story. Her role as Sang-ah a character defined by secrecy suggests a move away from clearly defined archetypes toward more complex, unpredictable personas. Paired with So Ji-sub, an actor known for anchoring intense narratives, this casting positions Son Na-eun in a space where performance nuance becomes critical. In that sense, Chief Kim may not just expand her filmography it could redefine how she is perceived as an actress in the industry.
