Rookie girl group ILLIT is steadily gaining traction in the U.S. music market, marking a promising step toward Billboard’s main singles chart.

According to Billboard’s latest rankings dated January 3, 2026, ILLIT’s first single album title track “Not Cute Anymore” debuted at No.17 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100. The chart tracks songs that narrowly miss the main Hot 100, based on a combination of digital sales, radio airplay, and streaming data.

The achievement is particularly notable given the seasonal dominance of holiday songs on the Hot 100 at this time of year, making new releases far more competitive. The ranking has drawn attention as ILLIT’s debut hit “Magnetic” previously followed a similar path, first appearing on the Bubbling Under chart before advancing to the Hot 100.

Strong Global Chart Performance

“Not Cute Anymore” has already proven its global appeal across multiple Billboard charts. The song has remained on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts for four consecutive weeks, while also reaching No.4 on the World Digital Song Sales chart.

On Spotify, the track made an impressive entrance, topping the platform’s U.S. Top Song Debut chart and ranking second globally during its release week. It has since maintained a steady presence on Spotify’s Weekly Global Top Songs chart for over a month.

Viral Growth Through Short-Form Content

A major factor behind the song’s momentum is its addictive melody and trend-driven sound, which has fueled widespread use across short-form video platforms. The track has become a popular background song for viral challenges, helping it rank highly on YouTube’s daily Shorts music charts in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and South Korea. It has also secured top-10 placements in markets including Japan, France, Germany, Brazil, and Mexico.

Rising Popularity in Korea

Domestically, the song continues to gain strength. After entering Melon’s Top 100 at No.100 shortly after release, “Not Cute Anymore” has shown consistent upward movement, climbing to No.17 as of December 29. The steady rise more than a month after release points to strong word-of-mouth and long-term chart potential.

With solid performance across U.S., global, and Korean charts, ILLIT’s latest release is increasingly viewed as a strong contender for a future Hot 100 entry, further cementing the group’s growing international presence.

Editor’s Insight

What makes this achievement meaningful is not just the chart position.

It is the pattern behind it.

Debuting on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 is often seen as a step just before broader recognition, but in ILLIT’s case, it reflects a repeatable trajectory. “Magnetic” followed a similar path, and now “Not Cute Anymore” is showing the same early signals. That consistency suggests their presence is not accidental.

The timing also adds context.

Breaking into U.S. charts during the holiday season, when rankings are typically dominated by recurring seasonal tracks, indicates a level of demand that goes beyond initial release hype. It points to sustained listener engagement rather than a short-term spike.

Another key factor is how the song is spreading.

The momentum is not coming from a single source. Streaming performance, short-form content usage, and global chart placements are all moving together. This kind of multi-platform growth is what often determines whether a track can transition from early traction to mainstream visibility.

That is where the real significance lies.

This is not just about entering a chart.

It is about building the conditions needed to stay on one.
