January may be cold, but the K-pop scene is anything but. This month, veteran male artists are stepping forward with long-awaited releases and concerts, turning the start of the year into a showcase of experience, artistry, and star power.

From solo projects to full-group returns, fans are being treated to a packed lineup led by Joohoney of MONSTA X, rock band CNBLUE, and K-pop powerhouse EXO.

Joohoney Returns With a Darker, Deeper Solo World

Joohoney of MONSTA X kicks things off with his second solo mini album titled 光 | INSANITY, released on January 5 at 6 PM KST across major streaming platforms.

This album marks his first solo release in nearly two years and eight months, following his debut mini album LIGHTS released in May 2023. While his previous work explored the concept of light, the new album expands that idea through the dual meaning of the Chinese character 光, which can signify both brilliance and madness.

Joohoney took full creative control of the project, participating in writing, composing, and producing all tracks. The title song Sting draws on the bee imagery closely associated with him, delivering sharp rap verses and intense performance energy. Known as MONSTA X’s main rapper and producer since the group’s 2015 debut, Joohoney is expected to showcase his most concentrated musical identity yet.

CNBLUE Make a Full-Album Comeback

Band CNBLUE, consisting of Jung Yong-hwa, Kang Min-hyuk, and Lee Jung-shin, return with their third full-length album 3LOGY on January 7 at 6 PM KST.

The album includes ten tracks, all written and composed by the members themselves. Alongside the title track Killer Joy, it also features the previously released song But It Was a Flower. Each member’s musical personality is clearly reflected, yet the songs come together cohesively to form a unified album.

Notably, this is the first time CNBLUE are officially credited as co-producers, further solidifying their identity as a self-sustaining band. To accompany the release, they will hold their Seoul concert titled 2026 CNBLUE LIVE ‘3LOGY’ on January 17 and 18 at Ticketlink Live Arena, offering fans a chance to experience their live performance strength firsthand.

EXO Prepare a Long-Awaited Full-Group Return

‘K-pop kings’ EXO are set to make their comeback on January 19 at 6 PM KST with their eighth full-length album REVERXE.

The album includes nine tracks, including the title song Crown, and arrives approximately two years and six months after their previous full album EXIST released in July 2023. Expectations are high, especially as the release comes after a period marked by individual activities and internal changes.

Crown blends Atlanta trap drums, heavy metal guitar, and EDM synth sounds, breaking genre boundaries with a bold dance track. The lyrics compare a cherished person to a crown desired by many, expressing a vow to protect what matters most at all costs. For fans, the album holds added emotional value as it represents EXO’s return as a complete group.
