I.M of MONSTA X (real name Im Chang-kyun, 29) will begin his mandatory military service next month, his agency confirmed, while also announcing that he will participate in the group’s upcoming Seoul concerts ahead of his enlistment.
According to Starship Entertainment, I.M is scheduled to enlist on February 9, when he will enter a training center to receive basic military training before serving as an active duty soldier in the Republic of Korea Army.
Enlistment Details and Fan Guidance
The agency stated that no official event will be held on the day of I.M’s enlistment. In order to ensure safety and avoid congestion, fans have been asked to refrain from visiting the enlistment site. “For safe on site operations, we kindly ask fans not to visit the location on the day of enlistment,” Starship Entertainment said in an official notice. The agency emphasized its appreciation for fans’ understanding and cooperation during this period.
Health Condition and Recovery Progress
I.M’s enlistment plans follow a period of health recovery. The artist has previously experienced ongoing back pain and temporarily halted activities last summer to focus on treatment and rehabilitation.
Starship Entertainment explained that I.M has consistently undergone rehabilitation and medical care, and that his condition has significantly improved in recent months. “After continuous treatment, medical professionals have advised that participation in performances is possible within a non strenuous range,” the agency stated. The company stressed that all schedules have been planned with I.M’s health as the top priority.
Participation in MONSTA X World Tour
Before enlisting, I.M will join MONSTA X’s full group world tour, appearing in the Seoul leg of ‘2026 MONSTA X World Tour: The X – Nexus.’ The concerts will take place from January 30 to February 1 at KSPO Dome in Seoul.
The agency clarified that I.M’s stage participation will be adjusted as needed to avoid overexertion. “The artist will participate in the concerts within a range that does not place strain on his health,” Starship added, asking fans for continued understanding.
