Seohyun, a member of Girls’ Generation and an established actress, is set to make a surprising new artistic debut as a violinist this March.
According to her agency, Seohyun will appear as a special guest soloist at the 8th Regular Concert of the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra on March 13, held at Seoul’s Lotte Concert Hall. During the performance, she will take the stage to play Csárdás, a famous work by Italian composer Vittorio Monti, known for its dramatic rhythms and emotional contrasts.

What makes the performance particularly noteworthy is that Seohyun has studied the violin for only about five months. Lightheartedly referring to herself as a “beginner violinist,” she emphasized that her goal is not technical perfection, but rather to share her genuine love for classical music with the audience.
Her participation came about through shared values with the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra, an ensemble composed largely of non-professional musicians who are passionate about classical music. By joining them on stage, Seohyun hopes to help lower the barriers to classical performances and encourage broader public interest in the genre.

“I hope my challenge helps people feel closer to classical music and discover new joy through it,” Seohyun said. “Just like pop music, I want classical music to feel like something everyone can enjoy.”
An orchestra representative added that Seohyun’s involvement is expected to make classical concerts feel more accessible, describing the upcoming performance as “a very special stage filled with sincere love for music.”
The concert, conducted by Jo Sang-wook, will also feature violinist Baek Joo-young and include a rich program such as Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, and Vivaldi’s Spring from The Four Seasons. Tickets are available through Lotte Concert Hall and NOL Ticket platforms.
