Actress Han So-hee has spoken candidly about her decision to remove her tattoos, revealing that the choice was driven not by personal regret, but by practical realities of working in the entertainment industry.

Han shared her thoughts during an interview on January 16 at a café in Jongno, Seoul, held in conjunction with the release of her new film ‘Project Y.’ Addressing long standing curiosity surrounding her tattoos once a defining part of her public image the actress did not sugarcoat the experience.

“I Couldn’t Wear Dresses”

“It’s really painful. Really,” Han said bluntly. She explained that while some tattoos remain, they have been reduced to a level that does not interfere with filming. “These days, technology has improved a lot. There are tattoo stickers and other methods, so I manage it that way when necessary.”

When asked whether the decision was motivated by work, Han answered without hesitation. “I couldn’t wear dresses,” she said. “Characters require diversity, but with tattoos on my arms, I felt it was a disadvantage. In that sense, I thought it was a loss when it came to work.” Han emphasized that the decision was ultimately pragmatic. “At the time, I thought I could always get tattoos again later. Right now, removing them for work felt like the right choice,” she said, adding again with a laugh, “but honestly, it was extremely painful.”

Staying True to Her Style

Despite adjusting her appearance for professional reasons, Han made it clear that her personal fashion identity remains intact. “I don’t feel pressured about my style,” she said. “I’ve always dressed this way, and I think people who like me tend to like that aspect as well. I don’t overthink where or how I should wear something.”

A New Chapter With ‘Project Y’

Han So-hee currently stars in ‘Project Y,’ a crime drama directed by Lee Hwan, known for ‘Park Hwa-young’ and ‘Young Adult Matters.’ The film follows Mi-seon (Han So-hee) and Do-kyung (Jeon Jong-seo), two women pushed to the edge of life who make a dangerous choice involving black money and gold bars in the heart of the city.
