Actress and singer Seohyun is preparing for an unexpected new challenge performing as a violin soloist on a classical concert stage.
In an exclusive interview, Seohyun revealed that she will collaborate with the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra at Lotte Concert Hall this March, where she will perform the famous violin piece “Csárdás” by Monti.
Inspired by Lim Yunchan’s Performance
Seohyun shared that her renewed passion for classical music began after watching pianist Lim Yunchan perform Bach’s Goldberg Variations two years ago.
“I was shocked by how deeply he immersed himself in the music,” she said. “It felt almost sacred. That moment changed how I look at art.”
Since then, she has attended more than 30 classical concerts in a year, developing a deep admiration for pure performance art.
From Idol to Violin Student
Although Seohyun learned piano and violin as a child, she returned to violin only five months ago after years away from classical training.
Now she practices up to 10 hours a day, even taping her fingers due to strain. “I’m not a violinist,” she said humbly. “I just want people to see me breaking my own limits.”

Performing a “Dream Piece” for Beginners
Seohyun chose “Csárdás,” a piece often considered a dream goal for amateur violin players.
Despite criticism about a celebrity appearing on a professional stage, she explained that the performance is about courage and challenge, not perfection.
“I hope people see that trying something difficult can make life more exciting,” she said.
A New Artistic Dream
Seohyun says classical music has deeply influenced her acting and singing, helping her understand emotion and expression more deeply.
She now dreams of one day holding her own violin recital, though she laughs that it may still be far away.
“Music changed the colors of my life,” she said. “Even when things are hard, it gives me strength.”
