Singer Rain has issued a public apology following controversy that arose during his recent concert in Taiwan involving a hearing-impaired fan.
According to international media reports, the incident occurred on January 17 during Rain’s “Still Raining: Encore” tour performance at Taipei Arena. While on stage, Rain encouraged a fan who was filming the performance to dance along with the music. The moment was captured on video and later spread on social media.
Soon after, the fan revealed through her personal SNS account that she has a hearing disability and was unable to hear Rain’s words or the interpreter’s instructions. She explained that she misunderstood Rain’s gestures, believing he was simply encouraging louder cheers rather than asking her to dance. The fan added that she attended the concert with two friends who are also hearing-impaired and had long supported Rain as fans.
As the story gained attention, Rain personally responded in the comments, apologizing directly to the fan. He wrote that he had not realized she could not hear and admitted that he had lacked consideration at the moment. He also stated that the incident made him reflect deeply and promised to be more thoughtful in all future performances.
Rain additionally expressed gratitude, saying that despite the misunderstanding, he felt the fan’s warm support and sincere encouragement from the audience.
