TWICE’s Japanese unit MISAMO is officially gearing up for its biggest release yet, unveiling a highlight medley for its upcoming first full length album ‘PLAY’, set to drop on February 4.

On January 26, MISAMO made up of Mina, Sana, and Momo shared a five minute highlight medley video across official social media channels, offering fans an extended preview of the album’s sound, concept, and narrative tone. The release marks the final chapter of the unit’s album trilogy, following their debut mini album ‘Masterpiece’ and second mini album ‘HAUTE COUTURE.’

A Cinematic Teaser With a Theatrical Twist

Rather than a standard track sampler, the highlight medley was presented in the form of a short cinematic piece. Japanese actor Takeru Satoh appears in the video, which unfolds around a fictional audition setting. Each member takes the stage in turn, performing solo tracks while navigating tension with strict judges adding drama and humor to the preview.

Mina introduces ‘Turning Tables,’ a sleek and controlled track that emphasizes restraint and emotional depth. Sana follows with ‘Ma Cherry,’ leaning into playful confidence and charm, while Momo delivers ‘Kitty,’ showcasing her signature groove and bold performance energy. The narrative culminates in the trio turning the tables on the judges, with new album tracks underscoring the victorious ending. The format reinforced the album’s central theme choice, agency, and performance while highlighting the members’ individuality within a unified concept.

Inside ‘PLAY’: Tracklist and Musical Direction

‘PLAY’ features a total of 12 tracks, including individual solo songs from each member and a diverse lineup of group tracks. The album’s title track ‘Confetti’ anchors the release, alongside B-sides such as ‘Deep Eden’ and ‘Hmm.’ Together, the songs explore a spectrum of moods, blending polished pop with theatrical flair and mature emotional storytelling.

The album is positioned as MISAMO’s most expansive work to date, reflecting both their growth as artists and their strong footing in Japan’s music market.

Proven Power in Japan

Since debuting in July 2023, MISAMO has established itself as one of the most successful K-pop sub-units active in Japan. Beyond strong physical sales, the trio completed a 2024 dome tour titled ‘HAUTE COUTURE,’ drawing a cumulative audience of approximately 250,000 fans a rare feat for a unit group. Their steady rise has been driven by a clear artistic identity, high production value, and a balance between elegance and performance driven pop.

What’s Next

With ‘PLAY’ set for release on February 4, MISAMO is expected to kick off full-scale promotions immediately after the album drops. As the final chapter of their trilogy, the album is poised to define the unit’s next phase and further solidify their presence in Japan’s competitive pop landscape.
