Marking 19 years since debut, Super Junior launches a bold new concert era and reminds fans why their legacy still stands strong.

A Milestone Performance for a 19-Year Career

Super Junior once again demonstrated their enduring influence in K-pop with a sold-out Seoul concert that marked the start of a new Asia tour. The group performed on June 22 and 23 at KSPO Dome, opening their “Super Show Spin-Off: Halftime” tour with a fresh format designed to break away from the traditional Super Show formula.

Rather than relying on nostalgia alone, the concert focused on reinvention, blending music, storytelling, and humor into a single immersive experience.

KSPO Dome Filled With Fans at Home and Abroad

Both nights in Seoul sold out entirely, including restricted-view seats, turning the venue into a signature sapphire-blue scene. The final performance was also streamed live via Beyond LIVE and Weverse, allowing fans across North America, Asia, and beyond to participate simultaneously.

The scale of the audience highlighted Super Junior’s continued global appeal, nearly two decades after their debut.

A Setlist Built Around Variety and Surprise

The concert opened with “Show Time,” immediately setting a lively tone. Throughout the night, Super Junior delivered a wide range of stages, from the energetic “Runaway,” styled like a theatrical sports performance, to “SPY,” which returned with a sharper, espionage-inspired presentation.

Songs such as “Lovely Day” and “Thirst” added contrast, while a newly arranged rock-style version of “Sorry, Sorry” drew especially loud reactions from the crowd.

Unit Combinations and Unexpected Covers

One of the standout elements of the show was its rotating unit stages. Newly formed sub-units including L.E.D. (Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, Donghae), S.K.Y. (Shindong, Kyuhyun, Yesung), and R&S (Ryeowook, Siwon) delivered exclusive performances created specifically for this tour.

The group also surprised fans with playful dance covers of trending songs like RIIZE’s “Get A Guitar” and NewJeans’ “Hype Boy,” showcasing both humor and adaptability.

Storytelling Through Cinematic VCRs

Beyond the live performances, the concert stood out for its cinematic video segments. Produced and directed by Shindong, the VCRs connected each stage with comedic narratives and fictional scenarios.

Guest appearances from entertainers such as Kang Ho-dong, Minho of SHINee, and Lee Soo-geun added to the appeal, turning the concert into something closer to a live variety show than a standard music event.

A Strategic Step Toward the 20th Anniversary

Toward the end of the show, the members explained that the spin-off concert is part of a long-term vision leading up to Super Junior’s 20th debut anniversary next year. Rather than treating it as a side project, they framed the tour as a foundation for what is still to come.

They emphasized that the performance was designed around enjoyment, both for themselves and for their fans, expressing gratitude for the continued support that has carried them this far.

Asia Tour Continues in Bangkok

Following the Seoul concerts, Super Junior will bring “Super Show Spin-Off: Halftime” to Bangkok, with shows scheduled for July 6 and 7 at Impact Challenger Hall 1. Additional stops across Asia are expected as the tour progresses.

With this latest concert series, Super Junior proved that longevity in K-pop is not just about survival, but about evolution.

Editor’s Insights: Super Junior’s ‘SJ-CORE’ and the Road to 20

Super Junior’s recent “Super Show Spin-Off: Halftime” was the perfect strategic bridge to their landmark 20th anniversary. By replacing the traditional “Super Show” structure with a variety-show-inspired “Spin-Off” format, the group successfully demonstrated that their longevity isn’t just a result of nostalgia, but of their unique ability to dominate both the music and entertainment sectors. This “Halftime” era—marked by high-energy unit stages like L.E.D. and S.K.Y. and Shindong’s cinematic VCRs—served as a vital experiment in fan engagement, proving that the group’s “blue sapphire” sea remains as vast as ever, even 19 years into their career.

As of April 3, 2026, the focus has officially shifted from the spin-off to the main event: the “SUPER SHOW 10” SJ-CORE world tour encore. Kicking off today at the KSPO Dome (April 3–5), this 360-degree stage performance is designed to celebrate two decades of global impact and serves as a victory lap for the group’s enduring teamwork. Simultaneously, individual momentum is peaking, with Donghae set to release his first full solo album, ‘ALIVE,’ on April 20. This duality of group legacy and solo evolution is the definitive blueprint for “Legend” status in 2026; Super Junior isn’t just celebrating the past—they are aggressively defining the future of long-term idol branding.
