Why Did Matin Kim Chose TWICE’s Momo As Their New Ambassador

TWICE’s Momo has added another major fashion campaign to her growing portfolio.

Korean fashion brand Matin Kim announced that Momo will serve as its 2026 fall season ambassador, describing the TWICE member’s energetic performance style and effortless off-stage fashion as a natural match for the brand’s free-spirited identity.

The partnership arrives at an interesting moment for both sides.

Momo is already firmly established in fashion as a Miu Miu ambassador, while Matin Kim has been rapidly expanding beyond Korea into markets including Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand. Miu Miu’s own website has previously identified Momo as one of its ambassadors.

For Matin Kim, choosing a Japanese member of one of K-pop’s most internationally recognizable girl groups makes the global strategy difficult to miss.

Momo brings her sporty side to Matin Kim

The fall campaign leans into a noticeably casual version of Momo.

Campaign pieces include vintage-inspired training sets, layered tops, beanies, hoodies and bags, with Matin Kim placing greater emphasis on relaxed unisex silhouettes this season. The collection also expands its range of bottoms to offer more styling combinations. The look feels different from the polished luxury image fans often see from Momo at fashion-week appearances.

That contrast may be exactly why the collaboration works. Matin Kim’s appeal has long rested on making streetwear-inspired Korean fashion feel accessible and slightly rebellious rather than overly formal. Momo can move convincingly between both worlds.

Fans noticed that immediately. A Reddit post announcing her ambassadorship received nearly 600 votes within its first day, with reactions including “Sporty Momo!” and praise for how naturally she suited the clothes. One commenter described Matin Kim as a “core brand in Korea.”

The official collection is called ‘IN MY COLOR’

There is a small naming detail international shoppers may notice.

Korean promotional coverage has described the fall campaign through the concept “PURE PLAY,” but Matin Kim’s own collection page currently lists “MATIN KIM x MOMO 2026 FALL 1ST COLLECTION — IN MY COLOR.”

The “IN MY COLOR” concept focuses on individual identity and expressing different moods through personal color and styling.

The campaign images featuring Momo had actually begun appearing before the formal ambassador announcement. A fan post sharing the collection on August 12 received more than 500 votes, with fans praising both her styling and the campaign’s playful visuals.

So while the August 20 announcement makes the partnership official, ONCE had already received an early preview.

Momo is also part of a broader pattern. Matin Kim’s official 2026 collection archive shows IVE’s Liz appearing in spring campaigns and NCT’s Jeno collaborating with the brand for summer before Momo took over the fall season. That approach gives each collection a recognizable K-pop face while allowing the brand to reach different fandoms and markets.

Momo may be particularly valuable internationally.

She is Japanese, promotes globally through TWICE and MISAMO, and has years of recognition across Korea and Japan—two markets that are especially important to Matin Kim’s expansion.

Matin Kim is becoming much more than a Seoul trend

International K-pop fans may recognize Matin Kim’s metal-logo bags and wallets without necessarily knowing how quickly the label has grown.

The brand now operates or sells through locations across Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan and Thailand, alongside its extensive Korean retail network. Its official stockist information includes a Tokyo flagship in Harajuku and multiple overseas stores.

Japan has become particularly significant. Matin Kim opened its first standalone Tokyo flagship in Harajuku in April 2026 after earlier locations in Shibuya and Nagoya. The company said its Japanese expansion followed strong consumer response to the Korean brand. That makes Momo more than a visually compatible campaign model.

She gives Matin Kim a recognizable bridge between K-fashion and one of its most important overseas audiences.

Momo poses in a relaxed manner wearing a gray cropped hoodie and sweatpants, with a red top underneath. She is wearing a black cap that says 'MATIN' and has long, straight hair.

Momo’s fashion profile keeps expanding

The campaign also continues Momo’s transformation from K-pop performer into a fashion figure with an identity independent of TWICE’s group endorsements.

Miu Miu officially referred to Momo as one of its ambassadors as early as 2024, placing her alongside other international names connected with the Italian house.

In 2026, she has also remained highly visible through fashion-editorial appearances and other brand campaigns.

That makes Matin Kim an interesting addition rather than a replacement for her luxury work.

Miu Miu represents high fashion.

Matin Kim gives fans a more casual, everyday version of Momo’s style—one that is considerably easier for many younger consumers to recreate.

Why the collaboration makes sense

Celebrity ambassadors are everywhere in K-fashion, but the most convincing partnerships usually work when audiences can immediately imagine the celebrity actually wearing the clothes.

That seems to be happening here. Matin Kim gets Momo’s international reach and strong fashion image. Momo gets a campaign that allows her to lean into the sporty, relaxed styling fans already associate with her away from the red carpet. And judging by the early reaction, ONCE did not need much convincing.

Matin Kim’s Momo fall collection is available through the brand’s official online and offline channels, with the company also offering promotional benefits around the collection launch.

For a Korean label increasingly looking beyond Korea, Momo may be one of its most internationally strategic faces yet.
