Actors Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin have officially become the first married couple ever to win Best Actor and Best Actress at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, held on November 19 at KBS Hall in Seoul.
Hyun Bin won Best Actor for “Harbin,” while Son Ye-jin received Best Actress for “It Can’t Be Helped.” Their joint win marks an unprecedented moment in the 46-year history of the Blue Dragon Film Awards.
Hyun Bin’s first Blue Dragon trophy
Receiving his first Blue Dragon Best Actor award, Hyun Bin said “‘Harbin’ taught me more than any film. I want to dedicate this honor to those who sacrificed to protect our country.”
He also shared a heartfelt message to his family:
“To my wife, Ye-jin, who gives me great strength, and to our son — I love you and thank you.”
Earlier on the red carpet, when asked jokingly who should win if only one of them could, Hyun Bin laughed, “I want to win.”
Son Ye-jin wins Best Actress again after 17 years
Son Ye-jin, who last won the Blue Dragon Best Actress award in 2008, reflected on her long journey:
“Back then, I said being a 27-year-old actress wasn’t easy. Now I’m over 40, and my perspective has changed so much.”
She thanked director Park Chan-wook for shaping her award-winning role and added:
“Becoming a wife and a mother changed how I feel and how I see the world. I want to be a good person and a good actress.”
She closed by saying she wants to share the moment with
“Kim Taepyung (Hyun Bin’s real name) and our son, Kim Woojin.”
Couple also wins Popularity Awards
Before the main categories, Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin also received the Popularity Award together — their first joint award since “Crash Landing on You.” The couple married in 2022 and have one son.
“It Can’t Be Helped” Dominates the Night
Meanwhile, “It Can’t Be Helped” swept major categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Music, and Technical Award — taking home six trophies.
