TWICE member Chaeyoung will temporarily step away from all activities due to health concerns. On November 20, JYP Entertainment released an official statement through the fan community, announcing that Chaeyoung has been diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, a condition that can cause sudden fainting due to overstimulation of the vagus nerve.
According to the agency, Chaeyoung had already been resting prior to the announcement after experiencing repeated symptoms. “She recently underwent thorough consultation and detailed examinations with medical specialists,” JYP explained. “Following the evaluation, it was determined that she requires an extended period of rest and must pause all scheduled activities for the time being.”

A Full Break Until the End of the Year
Chaeyoung will prioritize treatment and recovery throughout the remainder of the year. While some activities may allow for minimal participation depending on her condition, the agency emphasized that she may also sit out entirely when necessary. This decision will affect several stops on TWICE’s ongoing world tour ‘THIS IS FOR’, including upcoming shows in Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, and Bangkok. Chaeyoung will not be joining the group for these remaining performances.
JYP added that Chaeyoung herself feels deep regret about being unable to meet fans during this period. “She is sincerely sorry for her recent absences since late October,” the agency shared. “She hopes fans will understand that her health must come first.”
Absences That Sparked Concern
Chaeyoung’s health had already raised concerns among fans over the past month. She was unable to join the group’s Kuala Lumpur world tour concert on October 23 due to unspecified health issues. At the time, JYP confirmed her absence but did not disclose a diagnosis. She later missed the ‘THIS IS FOR’ Shanghai event on November 14 as her condition persisted. With the newly disclosed diagnosis, her agency has now officially placed her on long-term rest.
TWICE Continues Tour While Supporting Chaeyoung’s Recovery
TWICE will move forward with their world tour schedule, performing next at the National Stadium in Kaohsiung on November 22. JYP assured fans that Chaeyoung’s recovery will remain the top priority and promised continued updates regarding her health.
Chaeyoung’s fans around the world have shared messages of support, wishing her a safe, restful recovery and hoping to see her return only when she is completely ready.
Editor’s Insight
The management of Chaeyoung’s health throughout the “THIS IS FOR” world tour highlights the increasingly precarious balance between K-pop’s relentless global demand and artist sustainability. While her initial hiatus in late 2025 for vasovagal syncope was a necessary reset, her more recent setbacks in early 2026 specifically the lower back injury and herniated disc issues reported during the US leg this April—show that the physical toll of a 78-show tour is cumulative. For now, her absence is a quiet reminder that even “idols” are subject to the very human limits of the body.
