Fresh off winning a historic joint Best Actor award with his wife Son Ye-jin at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, Hyun Bin is already back with a new role — and it may be one of his most intense transformations yet.
Disney+ has unveiled the first character stills of Hyun Bin as Baek Ki-tae, a mysterious and dangerously ambitious intelligence officer in the upcoming original series “Made in Korea.” The images alone are enough to stir excitement, showing a version of Hyun Bin that fans have never seen before.

A High-Stakes Thriller Set in 1970s Korea
Directed by Woo Min-ho (Inside Men, The Man Standing Next), Made in Korea takes place in the 1970s — a turbulent era marked by rapid development, political tension, and fierce power struggles.
The story follows:
- Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin): A Central Intelligence Agency officer aiming to exploit the nation itself as a business tool, chasing wealth and power at the very top.
- Jang Gun-young (Jung Woo-sung): A prosecutor with relentless determination who pursues Ki-tae to the brink.
Their clash unfolds across a massive, era-defining conspiracy.
Hyun Bin’s Cold, Powerful New Image
In the newly released stills, Hyun Bin disappears into the character:
- His sharp gaze reveals Ki-tae’s ruthless ambition
- His calm posture contrasts with a chilling, controlled aura
- The grey-toned intelligence office setting emphasizes the character’s cold, calculating nature
Even without dialogue, the visuals hint at psychological warfare, political tension, and a battle between two men willing to risk everything.
This marks Hyun Bin’s first-ever OTT original series, adding even more anticipation.

A Star With Proven Range
From Harbin, Negotiation, and the Confidential Assignment films to the global hit Crash Landing on You, Hyun Bin has built a reputation for jumping across genres with precision.
But Ki-tae stands out as one of his boldest roles yet — a man driven by ambition, moral ambiguity, and raw desire for power. Fans are already eager to see Hyun Bin dive into a darker, more layered character.
