Stray Kids Selected as Headliners for Brazil’s ‘Rock in Rio’ First K-pop Artists to Lead the Festival

Stray Kids are making K-pop history once again. The group has officially been selected as a headliner for Brazil’s world-famous music festival Rock in Rio, solidifying their status as one of the most powerful global performers of their generation.

On November 26, JYP Entertainment confirmed that Stray Kids will take the main stage at Rock in Rio on September 11, 2026, held in Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the biggest and most influential music festivals in the world an event that has hosted icons across generations.

The First K-pop Artists to Lead Rock in Rio

Launched in 1985, Rock in Rio has grown into a global franchise with editions in Lisbon, Madrid, and Las Vegas. Legendary acts such as Queen, Guns N’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Muse have served as past headliners.

Stray Kids’ selection as the first K-pop headliner in the festival’s 40-year history marks a milestone not only for the group, but for the genre at large. Their explosive energy, experimental sound, and stadium-filling stage presence have made them one of the most in-demand global acts. The group has already dominated major international festivals this year, including Lollapalooza Paris, I-Days Festival, and British Summer Time Hyde Park, performing as headliners across continents.

A Triumphant Return to Rio de Janeiro

Stray Kids’ bond with Brazil is especially strong. As part of their “dominATE” world tour earlier this year, the group performed in Rio, attracting more than 55,000 fans to their sold-out stadium show. Their upcoming return just 1 year and 5 months later is expected to draw even larger crowds. Their ability to command stages worldwide has earned them the reputation of being a true “performance powerhouse,” consistently delivering high-production sets and unforgettable live moments.

Record-Breaking Momentum Continues

2025 has been one of Stray Kids’ most successful years yet. Their fourth full-length album “KARMA” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (chart dated Sept. 6), extending their extraordinary streak. Stray Kids are now the first artist in Billboard 200’s 70-year history to send seven consecutive albums to the top spot, beginning with 2022’s “ODDINARY.” Their latest release, “SKZ-RE: TAPE – DO IT,” also saw explosive digital success, topping the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart for four straight days.
