Actress turned entrepreneur Goo Hye-sun has been selected as a Special Award recipient in the Creative Talent category by KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), marking another major milestone in her expanding career.
KAIST recently announced the winners of its new cultural innovation strategy “QAIST,” choosing outstanding achievers across five areas: Creative Talent, Research, Globalization, Technology Value Creation, and Trust & Communication. Goo Hye-sun earned recognition for launching CUROL, a redesigned flat hair roller created to solve the discomfort and bulkiness of traditional hair rollers.
Her approach went beyond simple product design, building a cultural narrative, while drastically reducing plastic usage by removing the bulky inner frame — achieving an 80% reduction in plastic material.
Since its launch last month, CUROL has generated strong buzz for its minimalist look and practical comfort, leading to rising demand across both online and offline retail channels.
