Actor and singer Im Si-wan is officially stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist. Ten years after debuting as part of a group and releasing various OST tracks, he finally unveils his first solo project an album centered on performance, emotion, and a deeply personal artistic vision.

First Solo Album ‘The Reason’ Drops December 5 at 6 p.m.
Im Si-wan releases his first solo album ‘The Reason’ today at 6 p.m. across all major music platforms. Ahead of the release, the artist shared his excitement and nervousness, admitting that the anticipation feels stronger than expected. “I’ve released OSTs and performed as part of a group, so I thought I wouldn’t be too nervous,” he said. “But now that the solo album is just around the corner, the excitement is overwhelming.”
Si-wan shared that performance was the guiding principle behind the album’s creation.
“I believe the biggest reason an album exists is the stage,” he emphasized. “I picked songs while imagining how I would interact with fans during performances.” This vision also guided his decision to choose ‘The Reason’ as the title track a song he felt would allow for the most enjoyable exchange with fans during live shows.
Capturing His Personal Musical Taste
Drawing from years of experience performing on stage, Si-wan crafted an album that blends his love for calm, emotional ballads with the energy required for compelling live performances. “I tried to find the middle ground between the static songs I personally enjoy and the performance-driven songs that would shine on stage,” he shared. “All the tracks are the kind of music you can listen to comfortably.”
A Five-Track Album Exploring the Nuances of Love
‘The Reason’ includes five tracks, each capturing different shades of love: ‘The Reason,’ ‘My Love,’ ‘Just Us Two,’ ‘Where I Need To Be,’ and ‘Piece.’ The title track is a medium-tempo pop song with dynamic instrumental layers and a sweet, cinematic message, evoking the feel of a gentle romance film.
A New Look and a New Era
Si-wan also spoke about his dramatic bleached hair transformation, revealing that it surprised everyone around him. “People kept asking what happened, if something was wrong,” he laughed. “I had to explain over and over that it was for the album.” When asked about his favorite song, he admitted that the answer changes with his mood. “Each song is one I could listen to for a long time. Right now, I want to hear ‘Where I Need To Be,’ because it’s a song that helps me reflect quietly.”

A Heartfelt Message to Fans
Across the interview, Si-wan expressed deep gratitude toward fans who waited for his solo debut. “The moments I shared with fans have been incredibly precious. I made this album to repay that love. I may still be lacking, but I prepared with all my heart so we can spend more time together.”
