BTS leader RM (Kim Namjoon) has shared one of his most candid updates yet, opening up about the group’s long hiatus, comeback pressures, and the emotional weight he has carried as the group prepares for their 2025 return.
On December 6, RM held a live broadcast on Weverse, where he spoke honestly with ARMY about the frustrations, expectations, and difficult decisions behind the scenes.
“I wondered thousands of times… Should we stop? Should we disband?”
During the livestream, RM revealed that the past few years have been filled with deep internal conflict.
“I thought thousands of times, ‘Would it be better to disband? Should we stop here?’”
“But we continue because we love each other, and because we respect and love all of you.”
His words immediately stirred concern and sympathy among fans, who have long waited for BTS’s full-group comeback.
Why BTS didn’t promote in late 2025
RM also addressed criticism about the lack of group activities this year.
“People around me asked, ‘Why did you throw away the second half of 2025? Why didn’t you do anything?’
We didn’t want to lose that time. I wanted to promote as soon as I was discharged.”
However, he hinted that there were reasons behind the decision — reasons he cannot publicly share.
“There’s a reason we couldn’t promote in the latter half of the year. But I can’t tell you everything. It’s not something I have the right to explain.”
“It’s been over 3 years… I’m frustrated too”
RM expressed that he also feels the weight of the long gap since BTS’s last concert in October 2022.
“It’s been more than three years since our last show. I really want to perform again.”
“A lot has changed, and I feel a heavy burden. I’ve been preparing nonstop, and honestly, it’s frustrating.”
He emphasized that BTS is taking their time because they want to return with something meaningful and high-quality.
Comeback timeline: ‘We’re practicing in December… It won’t be long now’
While he couldn’t give an exact date, RM reassured fans that the comeback preparation is in full swing.
“We’ll be practicing throughout December. It won’t be long now.”
He added that the group cannot rush their return simply to appease the public.
“We can’t come back until we’re satisfied with what we’re presenting. We have to consider so many things.”
“We will return — maybe not in the way you expect, but we’ll do our best”
Despite concerns, RM’s message to ARMY was clear: BTS is coming back.
“We will return. It might not be in the exact form you’re expecting… but we’ll do our best.”
“We’ll prepare well and show you something we’re proud of.”
He ended with a heartfelt expression of gratitude and vulnerability.
“I never take your hearts lightly. I owe you my whole life.
I’m scared to reveal myself like this, but I’m speaking honestly because I love you.”
