Actors Lee Min-ho and Moon Ga-young are officially set to star together in Scent of the Night, the next highly anticipated project from star director Lee Eung-bok.

According to industry sources on December 8, both actors have been cast as the leads in Scent of the Night, a drama adaptation of a popular webtoon. The series dives into a bold and emotionally charged love story set in the Joseon dynasty—one that breaks away from traditional period-romance conventions.

A Story of Desire, Fate, and Forbidden Love

Scent of the Night follows Seohong, a woman who refuses to accept the oppressive fate assigned to women of her era, and Seo Jae-ha, a man who loves her deeply but must suppress his own desires while accepting a destiny he never asked for. Their relationship unfolds into a passionate, heartbreaking, and daring romance.

Director Lee Eung-bok, known for massive hits including Descendants of the Sun, Goblin, Mr. Sunshine, Sweet Home, and Dear X, will lead the production—raising expectations for another visually stunning and emotionally immersive series.

Lee Min-ho as Seo Jae-ha

Lee Min-ho will take on the role of Seo Jae-ha, born as the son of a butcher but thrust into a new life after a tragic loss. Following his father’s death, he is adopted into the family of Han Yang’s wealthiest merchant, gaining a new identity—and encountering Seohong as his adopted sister. Jae-ha’s complex, conflicting emotions toward her will drive the central tension of the drama.

This marks Lee Min-ho’s return after a long lineup of global hits, including Boys Over Flowers, City Hunter, The Heirs, The Legend of the Blue Sea, The King: Eternal Monarch, and Pachinko.

Moon Ga-young plays Seohong, the only daughter of the richest family in Han Yang. Intelligent, strategic, and unafraid to challenge societal norms, she builds a thriving merchant operation in a male-dominated world. Her fierce independence sets the stage for a dynamic, layered portrayal.

Moon Ga-young has steadily built her reputation through dramas such as Welcome to Waikiki, Find Me in Your Memory, True Beauty, The Dragon King’s Daughter, and Seocho-dong. She also stars in the upcoming film If We Were Us, releasing December 31.
