EXO member Lay (Zhang Yixing) has issued a public apology after being unable to attend the group’s recent fan meeting, explaining that an unexpected commitment in China required his immediate return to Beijing.
On December 14, Lay addressed fans through his Chinese social media account, clarifying the circumstances behind his absence. “I had to urgently return to Beijing to attend an important event held at the National Theatre of China,” he wrote, expressing regret over the sudden change in plans.
A Last-Minute Absence From EXO’s Fan Meeting
Lay was originally scheduled to appear at EXO’s fan meeting “EXO’verse,” held at Inspire Arena in Incheon on the same day. However, due to the unforeseen schedule conflict, he was unable to participate in the event. In his message, Lay offered a sincere apology not only to fans but also to his fellow members. “I sincerely apologize to everyone who may have been inconvenienced by my absence,” he said, bowing metaphorically in his statement.
SM Entertainment also released a brief notice ahead of the event, informing fans of the lineup change. The agency stated, “Due to unavoidable circumstances, Lay will not be able to attend the fan meeting.
