On December 16, MBC released the teaser video and poster for ‘2025 MBC Gayo Daejejeon: MEOT,’ revealing Annie as one of the event’s new hosts and sharing her thoughts ahead of the broadcast.
A New Challenge at Year’s End
In the released teaser, Annie appears calm yet confident, expressing her excitement and determination for the upcoming broadcast. “I want to show bright energy and a confident side of myself,” she said, signaling her readiness to take on a role that demands both presence and composure. Rather than focusing solely on performance, Annie emphasized communication and atmosphere two qualities essential for hosting a live, large-scale music festival. Her straightforward yet self-assured tone hinted at a hosting style rooted in sincerity rather than formality.
Defining ‘MEOT’ in Her Own Way
In line with the event’s theme, MEOT a Korean word often translated as “style,” “coolness,” or “swagger” Annie shared her personal interpretation of the concept. “I think meot can also be described as ‘aura,’” she explained. Her definition reflects a belief that true style comes from inner confidence and presence, rather than outward appearances alone. This perspective aligns closely with Annie’s image as an artist known for her honest expression and grounded charm, making her a fitting choice for the festival’s refreshed direction.
Stepping into a Meaningful Role
Annie will be following in the footsteps of Yoona, who served as an MC for MBC Gayo Daejejeon for ten consecutive years.
