Girls’ Generation member and actress Choi Sooyoung shared warm words of congratulations following news of Tiffany Young and actor Byun Yohan’s relationship, expressing sincere support while maintaining a careful and respectful tone.

Choi Sooyoung attended the production press conference for Genie TV’s upcoming drama ‘Idol I’ on December 16 at 2 p.m., held at The Saint in Guro-gu, Seoul. During the event, she was asked about reports that fellow Girls’ Generation member Tiffany Young is currently in a relationship with Byun Yohan, with marriage reportedly in consideration.

“It’s a Happy Thing”

Responding to the question, Choi Sooyoung did not hide her happiness. “It’s such a joyful thing,” she said. “It naturally makes me want to cheer for them.” She went on to emphasize the deep bond she shares with her fellow Girls’ Generation members. “The closest friends in my life are the members,” Choi explained. “No matter what choices they make, those choices deserve celebration.”

At the same time, she acknowledged the sensitivity of the topic. “I do feel it’s something I need to be careful talking about,” she added, striking a balance between heartfelt support and respect for privacy. Her comments reflected a mature, measured approach offering encouragement without overstepping boundaries, a stance that resonated positively with fans.

A Bond That Endures

Choi Sooyoung and Tiffany Young debuted together as members of Girls’ Generation in 2007 and have remained publicly supportive of each other’s individual paths in music, acting, and global activities. Choi’s remarks reaffirmed the group’s long standing reputation for genuine friendship beyond their time as active idols.

About ‘Idol Eye’

At the same press conference, attention was also focused on Choi Soo-young’s latest acting project. ‘Idol I’ is a mystery courtroom romance centered on Maeng Se Na (played by Choi), a star lawyer with “max level” fan devotion, who takes on the case of her favorite idol, Do Ra Ik (played by Kim Jaeyoung), after he becomes a murder suspect. The drama follows Se Na as she works to prove Do Ra Ik’s innocence while concealing her own fangirl heart in a story that blends suspense, romance, and lighthearted humor. The concept of a “favorite idol innocence proof romance” is expected to deliver both laughter and emotional tension.

‘Idol I’ will premiere on December 22 through Genie TV and ENA.

Editor’s Insight

What makes this subject compelling is that Sooyoung’s reaction shifts the focus away from celebrity romance as spectacle and toward something far more meaningful: trust, adulthood, and the quiet solidarity of a friendship that has lasted nearly two decades in public view. Her response feels significant not because she reveals anything new, but because she models restraint — she is warm without being careless, supportive without turning Tiffany’s private life into content. In an industry where relationship news is often consumed through rumor, pressure, and fan overreaction, that kind of measured response suggests a healthier, more mature image of idol relationships and female friendship. The real story here is not simply that Tiffany may be dating, but that a fellow Girls’ Generation member responded with dignity, showing how the group’s bond still carries credibility long after their peak idol years.
