Actor Ahn Bo-hyun shared insights into his physical transformation and character preparation for tvN’s upcoming romantic comedy Spring Fever, set to premiere in early 2026.

The new Monday–Tuesday drama, which first aired on January 5, followed the heart-fluttering romance between Yoon Bom (played by Lee Joo-bin), a reserved teacher, and Sun Jae-gyu (played by Ahn Bo-hyun), a man whose tough exterior hides a surprisingly sincere heart.

Ahn Bo-hyun described Sun Jae-gyu as a bold, straight-forward character with a strong physique and intimidating first impression, yet warm, loyal, and deeply affectionate on the inside. He said the role immediately appealed to him, especially because of the character’s Busan dialect, the fast-paced storytelling, and the seaside village setting.

To fully embody the role, Ahn revealed that he maintained a strict workout routine regardless of filming schedules. He continued training even on non-shooting days and brought weights to set to preserve the character’s imposing build, explaining that Jae-gyu needed to look physically unapproachable at first glance.

He summarized the drama using three key words — energy, devotion, and family love — and recalled filming in Pohang from summer through winter as an enjoyable experience for the entire cast.

Directed by Park Won-guk, Spring Fever marked Ahn Bo-hyun’s return to the romantic comedy genre and aired every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. KST on tvN.

Ahn Bo-hyun is officially reclaiming his “Rom-Com Boss” title with Spring Fever, and the timing couldn’t be better. After a string of intense, physically demanding roles in My Name and Military Prosecutor Doberman, his return to a “macho-but-soft” character like Seon Jae-gyu feels like the perfect bridge between his rugged action roots and the heartthrob charm of his Yumi’s Cells days.
