Yihyun, leader of rising girl group Baby DONT Cry, is stepping into a new role as a music show MC, officially joining SBS’s ‘Inkigayo’ as one of its newest hosts.
According to SBS on January 5, Yihyun has been confirmed as a regular MC for ‘Inkigayo,’ forming a three MC lineup alongside current hosts Shinyu of TWS and EJ of &TEAM. With the refreshed hosting team, the long running music program is set to bring renewed chemistry and youthful energy to its weekly broadcasts.

From Special MC to Official Host
Yihyun is no stranger to the ‘Inkigayo’ stage. She previously served as a special MC in July and November of last year, where she demonstrated steady live hosting skills, clear delivery, and quick witted reactions even under the pressure of live broadcast. Her performance during those special appearances played a key role in her promotion to a permanent MC position.
Industry insiders note that Yihyun’s transition from guest to official host feels natural, given her calm on camera presence and ability to balance professionalism with warmth qualities essential for a live music program that bridges artists and viewers every week.
A Performer With Strong Foundations
As the leader of Baby DONT Cry, Yihyun has been recognized for her solid vocal ability and commanding stage presence, anchoring the group’s performances while also drawing attention as a visual center. Her experience in front of the camera, however, began long before her official debut. She first appeared on television as a child, gaining recognition as “Little IU” on SBS’s ‘Fantastic Duo,’ a connection that adds emotional significance to her return to the network years later in a leading role.
Yihyun officially debuted in June 2025 as part of Baby DONT Cry, the girl group under P NATION, led by Psy. The group continued to build momentum with the release of its second single ‘I Don’t Care’ in November, showcasing a more mature and confident musical direction.
“A Dream I’ve Had Since Before Debut”
Sharing her thoughts on joining ‘Inkigayo,’ Yihyun expressed genuine excitement and gratitude. “I’m so happy and excited to become a music show MC, something I’ve dreamed of since before my debut,” she said. “I first appeared on TV through ‘Fantastic Duo’ when I was young, so being able to greet viewers now on SBS’s ‘Inkigayo’ feels especially meaningful.”
She added, “I sincerely thank the production team for trusting me with such a precious opportunity. I’ll carry that responsibility with me and do my best to deliver positive energy every week to viewers and to fellow artists alike.”
What’s Next
Yihyun’s official MC debut on ‘Inkigayo’ will air live on January 11 at 3:10 p.m. KST, marking the beginning of her regular hosting duties.
