An Album About Love Sung at Night

The album title ‘Nocturne’ refers to “a love song sung at night,” setting the emotional and conceptual foundation for the release. Across six tracks, DK and Seungkwan explore ordinary yet deeply relatable moments of love quiet longing, emotional distance, and unspoken feelings through restrained storytelling and vocal-driven arrangements.

Rather than relying on spectacle, the album centers on vocal expression and nuance, allowing both artists to lean fully into their strengths as SEVENTEEN’s main vocal line. From classic ballads to folk inspired sounds, the tracklist suggests a carefully curated listening experience designed to unfold slowly, much like the night itself.

Title Track ‘Blue’

The title song ‘Blue’ captures the emotional core of the album. Built around the theme of “love moving at different paces,” the track reflects moments when two people share feelings that are equally sincere, yet misaligned in depth or timing. DK and Seungkwan express this emotional dissonance through layered harmonies, contrasting vocal textures, and subtle dynamic shifts.

Creative Participation and Solo Tracks

Both DK and Seungkwan actively participated in the album’s creation, contributing to lyrics and composition. The mini album also includes individual solo tracks that further define each artist’s musical identity. DK’s solo song ‘Rockstar’ presents a more expressive, emotionally driven performance, while Seungkwan’s ‘Dream Serenade’ leans into warmth and melodic clarity. These tracks allow each vocalist to stand alone while reinforcing the balance that defines the unit as a whole.

Additional B sides include ‘Guilty Pleasure,’ ‘Silence,’ and ‘Prelude of Love,’ the latter of which lists both DK and Seungkwan as co-lyricists, emphasizing the collaborative spirit behind the project.

A Vocal Focused Unit

Industry observers note that this unit release feels less like a side project and more like a deliberate extension of SEVENTEEN’s musical narrative one that places vocal artistry at the forefront. By stripping back production excess and focusing on harmony, emotion, and storytelling, DK and Seungkwan position ‘Nocturne’ as a listening first album rather than a performance driven one.

Release Date

DK and Seungkwan’s first mini album ‘Nocturne’ will be released on January 12 at 6 p.m. KST across major music platforms.
