NCT WISH is stepping into the world of travel variety shows with ‘On the Map,’ a new global adventure series that follows the group as they explore unfamiliar landscapes and face unexpected challenges together.
Ahead of its premiere, the production team shared insights into the program’s concept, casting decisions, and key viewing points, raising anticipation for NCT WISH’s first dedicated travel variety project.

A K-pop Adventure Built on Exploration
‘On the Map’ is an original Mnet Plus series that combines travel and challenge based missions. The show follows K-pop idols as they journey abroad, complete hidden challenges along the way, and gradually piece together a single map that represents their shared experience.
The first season features NCT WISH as its sole cast. Producers explained that the group’s casting was intentional. “They have a very pure energy,” the team said, adding that NCT WISH seemed likely to reveal sides of themselves rarely seen in structured studio-based variety shows. “We felt they would show unexpected charms outside of familiar formats.”
Mongolia as the Backdrop
The group’s destination for the series is Mongolia, a choice the production team described as symbolic. Mongolia’s expansive landscapes and star filled night skies were cited as a key reason for its selection, aligning closely with the team’s image and themes.
Interestingly, during pre filming interviews, the members themselves reportedly named Mongolia as a destination they had always wanted to visit. “That coincidence surprised us,” the producers noted, reinforcing the sense that the journey would feel personal rather than staged.
Friendship as the Core Viewing Point
Rather than focusing solely on spectacle or competition, the main narrative of ‘On the Map’ centers on the bond between members. According to the production team, the show captures moments where the members rely on one another in unfamiliar environments, revealing genuine emotions and unfiltered interactions. “Viewers will see moments of healing,” the producers said, hinting that the series showcases sides of NCT WISH that are still raw and unpolished. The contrast between performance-ready idols and travelers navigating real-world challenges is positioned as one of the show’s defining strengths.
The team also teased a particularly meaningful finale. In the final episode, the members reportedly share honest conversations beneath Mongolia’s star filled sky, reflecting on their journey and the memories they’ve created together.
