Netflix has confirmed the release date for its upcoming original film ‘Pavane’, a youth melodrama starring Go Ah-sung, Byun Yo-han, and Moon Sang-min, set to premiere on February 20.
According to Netflix on January 23, Pavane tells the story of three individuals who have closed their hearts to the world, only to slowly rediscover life and love as they become sources of light for one another. The film is directed by Lee Jong-pil, known for portraying young people navigating harsh realities with emotional sensitivity.

A Romantic Poster That Sets the Tone
Along with the announcement, Netflix unveiled an official poster featuring Mi-jeong (Go Ah-sung) and Gyeong-rok (Moon Sang-min) standing beneath an aurora lit sky. Surrounded by white snow, the two share a kiss, creating the impression that they are the only people left in the world.
The soft blue glow of the aurora adds a sense of mystery and fantasy, hinting that Mi-jeong and Gyeong-rok both unaware of their own inner light will bring a fairy tale like warmth into each other’s bleak realities. The visual sets expectations for a romance that is gentle, introspective, and emotionally resonant.
Three Youths, Three Different Wounds
Pavane follows Mi-jeong, a woman who hides from the world due to hurtful and uncomfortable gazes; Yohan (Byun Yo-han), a free spirited soul who loves rock music; and Gyeong-rok, a young man who has set aside his dreams to survive reality.
The teaser trailer reveals that the three first encounter one another in a department store parking lot. As Gyeong-rok becomes increasingly curious about the mysterious Mi-jeong, Yohan casually mentions that she is nicknamed “the dinosaur” among employees, sparking intrigue about her identity. A narration stating, “That summer, he fell in love for the first time in his life,” signals the beginning of a distinctive youth romance shaped by curiosity, misunderstanding, and emotional growth.
Chemistry, Friendship, and First Love
Yohan plays a key role in bringing Mi-jeong and Gyeong-rok closer, using his humor and warmth to ease tension and inject lightness into their interactions. As the two grow closer, the film captures the shy excitement and uncertainty of first love, while also highlighting the deepening friendship among the trio. The tagline, “For those who love, and for those who must learn to love,” encapsulates the film’s bittersweet emotional core. Rather than grand gestures, Pavane focuses on small moments, misunderstandings, and quiet connections, offering comfort and reflection to viewers navigating their own realities.
Pavane will be released globally on Netflix on February 20, aiming to deliver a warm yet poignant youth romance that lingers long after the final scene.
