Actor Lomon has shared an unexpected story from before his debut, revealing that he once received casting interest from all three of Korea’s major entertainment agencies but ultimately declined each offer.

Lomon appeared on the YouTube variety show ‘Salon Drip’ on January 27, where he spoke candidly about his early experiences with dance and how they briefly brought him to the attention of top K-pop companies.

A Background in Dance

During the show, Lomon explained that he was part of a b-boy dance club in middle school, where he trained for just over a year. “I started because of my cousin,” he said. “It was something I did when I was young, but whenever I committed to something, I worked hard at it.” Comedian Jang Do-yeon jokingly asked whether he would dance whenever he saw his reflection, to which Lomon replied, “I was always moving to the beat,” drawing laughter from the studio.

Curiosity About the Idol Path

When asked whether he ever considered becoming an idol, Lomon admitted that he had been curious. “I even asked online how people get into SM, JYP, or YG,” he said, referencing a question he once posted on a Korean Q&A forum. Jang Do-yeon then mentioned online rumors suggesting that Lomon had once been an SM trainee, which he quickly denied. “That’s not true,” he clarified. “But I did receive business cards from all three.”

Why He Said No

Despite the interest, Lomon said he chose not to pursue the idol route. “I turned them down because I was focusing on my studies,” he explained. “They probably gave me their cards without even seeing my dance properly.” His remarks were met with amused reactions from the hosts, framing the story as a lighthearted glimpse into a path he ultimately chose not to take.

Editor’s Insight: A Different Career Direction

Rather than entering the idol training system, Lomon went on to build a career as an actor, gradually establishing himself through screen roles instead of music. The anecdote offered fans a rare look at how close he once came to a very different careerand how deliberately he chose another direction. In the 2026 landscape, where Lomon is solidified as a global breakout star following the success of All of Us Are Dead and his lead role in the fantasy-romance Branding in Seongsu-dong, this “b-boying” anecdote adds a layer of physical versatility to his public image.
