Seo Kang Joon stars in KBS2’s upcoming weekend drama “A Love Different Than Yours” as Nam Goong Ho, a man who has been in a decade-long relationship with Lee Mi Do, played by Ahn Eun Jin.
Ahead of the drama’s premiere, Seo Kang Joon shared new details about his character and explained why the series stood out to him.
Seo Kang Joon Plays a Boyfriend of 10 Years
“A Love Different Than Yours” is a 14-episode romance drama centered on a couple who have been together for 10 years.
After spending so much of their lives side by side, the pair begin confronting unfamiliar emotions, emotional fatigue and the subtle changes that can emerge in a long-term relationship.
Seo Kang Joon plays Nam Goong Ho, a man who has devoted a decade to Lee Mi Do while imagining a stable future with her.
According to the actor, what drew him to the project was how believable the character felt. Seo Kang Joon described Nam Goong Ho as thoughtful and warm, but also someone with a firm inner core. He can compromise with reality when necessary, yet he still knows where to draw the line. Rather than feeling like an idealized drama character, Seo Kang Joon said Goong Ho felt like someone who could genuinely exist in everyday life.
That sense of realism became one of the main reasons he chose the role.
His Character’s Love Language Is Sacrifice
For Nam Goong Ho, love is closely connected to sacrifice. Seo Kang Joon explained that nearly every part of the character’s daily life is shaped by his relationship with Lee Mi Do. His job, the money he saves and even the unfair situations he tolerates are all connected to the future he hopes to build with her.
That devotion also influenced the way Seo Kang Joon approached the performance. Instead of relying on dramatic expressions or exaggerated emotions, the actor said he tried to keep Goong Ho’s feelings restrained and sincere.
He focused especially on using his eyes to communicate the character’s thoughts, anxieties and inner conflicts.
The actor also said he spent time imagining emotions and experiences that were not directly written into the script in order to make the character feel more complete.
Seo Kang Joon Praises His Chemistry With Ahn Eun Jin
The relationship between Seo Kang Joon and Ahn Eun Jin is expected to be one of the drama’s biggest highlights.
Seo Kang Joon described their acting chemistry as almost instinctive, saying they often seemed to understand each other without needing much explanation. He added that their interpretations matched particularly well during emotionally intense scenes.
According to him, working opposite Ahn Eun Jin made him feel secure on set, and he described their collaboration as both reassuring and enjoyable. Their performances will be key to convincing viewers that Nam Goong Ho and Lee Mi Do have spent 10 years sharing the same relationship history.
