Davichi Issues Public Notice After Concert Prop Reveals Real Phone Number

Vocal duo Davichi has issued a public notice after a phone number printed on concert props was found to belong to a real individual, resulting in unintended contact and disruption.

On January 27, Davichi’s agency CAM With Us clarified that a phone number displayed on business cards distributed during the duo’s recent concert was intended solely for stage production purposes and was not meant for actual communication.

Agency Urges Public Not to Call

In an official statement, the agency said that the number was created as part of the performance concept for Davichi’s 2026 solo concert ‘Time Capsule: Connecting Time.’ However, it was later confirmed that the number coincided with an active phone line currently in use. “Contact has been made to the owner of the number, and damage has occurred due to repeated calls,” the agency said. “We sincerely ask the public to refrain from contacting the number.”

How the Issue Occurred

Davichi held their solo concerts on January 24 and 25 at KSPO Dome in Seoul’s Olympic Park. During the opening segment of the show, magician Lee Eun-gyeol, who participated in the performance, handed out business cards to audience members. The cards featured the phrase, “Do you know about time capsules? If you want to connect time, please call now,” along with a phone number labeled as “Free consultation / Direct connection.”

According to the agency, the number was designed to reflect the concert’s theme and was created by combining Davichi’s debut year with the current year. The overlap with a real phone number was unintentional.

Follow Up Measures

The individual who owns the number later reported receiving dozens of calls per day following the concert. In an interview with JTBC’s ‘Crime Chief,’ the person said they initially considered filing a police report but instead contacted Davichi’s agency and the artists through social media. The agency responded by confirming that an official notice would be posted to prevent further damage. As of now, Davichi’s team has publicly reiterated that the number should not be contacted.

What’s Next

The incident has prompted renewed attention to the use of realistic props in live performances. Davichi’s agency stated that it will take additional precautions in future productions to prevent similar situations. The case underscores the importance of verifying fictional elements used in live events particularly when they resemble real world contact information.

Editor’s Insights: Davichi’s “Time Capsule” Telephony Blunder

The “real-world phone number” incident during Davichi’s ‘Time Capsule: Connecting Time’ concert highlights a growing friction between immersive stage storytelling and digital-age privacy. While the creative intent—linking the duo’s debut year with 2026—was a poetic nod to their 18-year legacy, the failure to secure a “dead” or dedicated promotional line transformed a magical fan moment into a logistical liability. In an era where fans are primed for “Alternate Reality Games” (ARGs) and Easter eggs, any numeric string presented on a prop is now treated as a functional portal. This oversight by CAM With Us and the production team serves as a stark warning to the K-pop industry: in 2026, the boundary between “stage prop” and “active data” has completely evaporated.

From an editorial perspective, the agency’s swift public apology and direct communication with the affected individual were essential to maintaining Davichi’s “trusted big sister” brand image. Unlike previous industry scandals where civilian privacy was sidelined for marketing (notably the Squid Game phone number incident), the immediate request for fan restraint showed a level of maturity consistent with Davichi’s senior status. As we move through April 2026, the narrative is shifting toward the duo’s Spring Festival circuit; however, the “Time Capsule” blunder will likely result in stricter broadcast and performance guidelines regarding “fictional” contact info. We are watching to see if Davichi incorporates a self-deprecating joke about “checking their numbers” in their upcoming variety appearances, which would be the ultimate masterclass in damage control.
