Han Celebrated His Birthday by Creating a Safer Place for Children
Stray Kids member Han chose to celebrate his September 14 birthday by directing attention toward children facing circumstances no child should have to endure.
Han donated ₩100 million to the social welfare foundation Angels’ Haven. Half of the contribution will support the protection and psychological treatment of children who have experienced abuse. The remaining ₩50 million will help fund care and education for children at Eunpyeong Angels’ Haven.
The way the donation was divided makes its purpose especially meaningful. One part focuses on helping children recover from trauma, while the other supports the stable daily environment they need to continue growing.
“I wanted to offer even a small amount of warm comfort to the hearts of children who have been hurt,” Han said.
He added that he sincerely hoped the children could overcome their pain within a warm and protective environment and regain their bright smiles.
Support That Continues After Immediate Protection
Removing a child from a dangerous situation is only the beginning of recovery.
Children who have experienced abuse may need counseling, emotional support and long-term treatment. They also need consistency, education and trustworthy adults around them as they rebuild a sense of safety.
Angels’ Haven provides welfare services for children and young people, including residential care, counseling, emotional assistance and support for those preparing to live independently. Its programs continue helping young people even after they leave institutional care.
Han’s donation reflects both sides of that process. It helps children receive specialized support for their emotional wounds while also strengthening the everyday care that surrounds them.
This Is Han’s Second Birthday Donation in Two Years
The contribution is not Han’s first time using his birthday to help others.
In 2025, he donated another ₩100 million to Samsung Medical Center. That money was divided between treatment and caregiving expenses for adults with severe illnesses and medical support for children and adolescents.
Across those two birthday donations alone, Han has contributed ₩200 million to medical care and child welfare.
He has also participated in group donations with his Stray Kids members, including contributions for wildfire recovery in South Korea through the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association and World Vision.
The pattern makes his latest donation feel less like a one-time gesture tied to publicity and more like a developing personal commitment. Each year, the focus has changed, but the intention has remained consistent: transforming the love received from fans into direct help for people facing difficult circumstances.
A Quiet Message Behind a Busy Global Schedule
The donation arrives while Stray Kids are maintaining an intense international schedule.
The group recently began the South American leg of its STRAYCITY tour in Bogotá, Colombia, and also performed at Brazil’s Rock in Rio festival.
Han moves between those global stages as a rapper, vocalist, songwriter and member of the production unit 3RACHA. Yet his birthday message focused not on his career or achievements, but on children recovering from pain.
For STAY, birthdays are usually filled with messages, fan projects and celebrations from around the world. Han’s contribution gives that celebration another meaning.
The greatest gift surrounding his birthday may be one that he will never personally see: a child receiving counseling, continuing an education or slowly learning to feel safe again.
