An October 28 interview adds a new development to reports about his private life, with his account differing from earlier claims that a wedding would follow the birth.
Former BIGBANG member Seungri has reportedly said he is already legally married and preparing to become a father, adding a significant update to reports that initially described him as planning a wedding with a pregnant girlfriend. In an interview published by Ilgan Sports on October 28, he said the marriage had already been registered and that he was not currently considering a wedding ceremony, according to subsequent coverage of the interview.
The statement followed reports that his non-celebrity partner, described as a woman in her twenties, was expecting a son in January 2027. Those earlier accounts also claimed the couple had arranged a home in Seoul’s Gangnam district and intended to hold a wedding after the birth, details that circulated before the newer interview clarified his account of their marital status.

A New Interview Changes the Wedding Story
The initial coverage presented the relationship as one moving toward marriage, with a ceremony reportedly planned after the child’s arrival. The October 28 interview introduced a different account: Seungri said he and his partner had already completed their marriage registration, while a wedding ceremony was not currently planned.
That distinction changes the central development from speculation about a forthcoming marriage to a reported acknowledgment of an existing legal marriage. The January due date and the baby’s reported sex originated in the earlier coverage, while the newer account described the birth as expected early next year.
Family Reports Emerge Alongside a Separate Assault Complaint
The reports about Seungri’s private life surfaced amid coverage of a separate criminal complaint concerning an alleged incident at a Gangnam restaurant in August. According to News1, he was accused of threatening and assaulting a man in his thirties with a soju bottle, allegations his side has disputed.
Seungri’s representatives acknowledged that he picked up a bottle but denied physical contact or threats. The disagreement concerns what happened during the restaurant encounter, and the supplied report does not describe a court judgment establishing the allegation as fact.
The family news and the complaint should therefore be understood as separate developments. His reported marriage and impending parenthood do not determine the facts of the restaurant incident, which remain disputed in the coverage reviewed.

His Departure From BIGBANG and Subsequent Convictions
Seungri, whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, debuted with BIGBANG in 2006 before leaving the group and announcing his retirement from entertainment in 2019 amid the Burning Sun scandal. His departure ended his activities with the group, although reports about his later life have continued to attract attention.
He subsequently received an 18-month prison sentence in a case involving nine offenses, including arranging prostitution and habitual gambling. South Korea’s Supreme Court upheld the sentence in May 2022, and he completed his prison term in February 2023.
Those convictions are established legal history and are distinct from the more recent restaurant complaint. The latter should not be described as another conviction, just as the earlier pregnancy and wedding reports should not be treated as interchangeable with the account attributed to him in the October 28 interview.
Editor’s Note: This article incorporates reporting published after the October 27 News1 story. Ilgan Sports’ newer interview, as relayed by subsequent outlets, attributes the marriage-registration statement to Seungri. The precise January due date and claim that the baby is a boy remain attributed to the earlier reporting, rather than independently verified family records.
