Hong Jinyoung Responds to ‘Injection Aunt’ Controversy: “Photo Was Taken 12 Years Ago, No Personal Ties”

Singer Hong Jinyoung has addressed online speculation linking her to the so called “Injection Aunt” controversy, clarifying that a resurfaced photo at the center of the discussion dates back more than a decade and does not indicate any personal relationship.

On December 23, Hong Jinyoung’s agency, IMH Entertainment, released an official statement following the circulation of an old photo showing the singer alongside a woman identified as “Ms. Lee,” who has been mentioned in recent allegations surrounding illegal medical practices.

“Taken Around 12 Years Ago”

According to the agency, the photo was taken during Hong Jinyoung’s promotions following ‘Love Battery’ and ‘Boogie Man’. “Based on our review, the photo appears to have been taken at a hospital approximately 12 years ago,” the agency explained. They added that Hong Jinyoung herself has no recollection of the moment. “The photo was taken so long ago that she does not remember the occasion, nor does she recall the individual she was photographed with,” the statement said.

No Personal or Social Media Connection

The agency emphasized that the photo should not be interpreted as evidence of a relationship. “During her career, Hong Jinyoung has frequently taken promotional or sponsorship photos at the request of various brands, products, and medical facilities,” the agency noted, explaining that such appearances were routine at the time.

They further clarified that Hong Jinyoung has no personal ties to Ms. Lee. “They are not connected on social media, and there is no personal acquaintance between them,” the agency stated, urging the public and media to refrain from speculative reporting.

Background of the Controversy

The controversy surrounding the so called “Injection Aunt” began earlier this month after allegations surfaced that comedian Park Na-rae had received IV injections from an unlicensed individual. As the issue expanded, several public figures including Key, YouTuber Heotnim (Kim Mi-kyung), and others were mentioned in connection with the individual in question, leading to program departures and activity suspensions.

While some figures later stated they had believed the individual to be a licensed doctor at the time, the controversy has continued to ripple through the entertainment industry.

Agency Calls for Caution

Hong Jinyoung’s agency concluded by stressing that the singer should not be drawn into unrelated speculation. “We sincerely ask that unfounded assumptions and conjecture regarding Hong Jin-young be avoided,” the statement said.
